Thank you, Hobart Book Shop and Sue-Ellen Paulsen!

Hobart Book Shop hosted the first capital city launch of A Distant Prospect by Annette Young on Tuesday, 12 February, 2013.

Ryk Goddard interviewed Annette at 7:40am, telling ABC 936 Breakfast listeners that he was deeply moved by A Distant Prospect, especially the moment when Lucy first felt the waves on her feet again, after years of therapy for polio. Then, at the Hobart Book Shop in Salamanca Square, Sue-Ellen Paulsen, Principal Cello with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, spoke beautifully and at length about the many aspects of the book which touched her, recalling her own days at convent school and her time in Vienna, and the book’s soaring descriptions of the music performances and the friendships between musicians.

To the delight of the crowd, Sue-Ellen also played several works including a Bach Prelude movement, and “The Swan” from Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals.

A big thank you to Janet and Clive at The Hobart Book Shop, and especially to Sue-Ellen for your inspiring words and music!
