A good start, but not enough!

Of course, A Distant Prospect is wonderful to simply read as an engaging and uplifting story with believable characters, but Annette’s meticulous research and multi-layered construction also reward serious study.

Genre, Structure, Narrative voice, Context, Characters, Themes, Motifs, Language/Diction, Humour, Literary references, Music references… there is so much to explore in such a complex work of literature! A few insights from the author herself will get your class really thinking about the craft of writing great fiction.

If you, or perhaps even your high school English class, would like to try it out, message us on Facebook about how you would like to participate, and we’ll keep you posted when a draft is ready!

Remember, this Study Guide is for you to use, so we really want to include everything you need to stimulate and inspire your students, so they will look fondly back on A Distant Prospect as a milestone in their education.
