What I’ve read/ What I’m currently reading this week:
Shakespeare, The Tempest, because one can never have enough Shakespeare; because I don’t know this comedy as well as the others, because I need to read Brave New World.
Robert Louis Stevenson, Kidnapped. JP was shocked that I hadn’t read it, so am reading on his recommendation. A tale well told.
Balfour, The Paris Architect. Research for Volume Two, and an education in how not to write.
Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov. A slow burner that’s taken me six months so far because there is so much to think about. Nine hundred pages in and we’re finally getting to the crux of this masterpiece. A lesson in how to write a big book. More to follow when I’ve finished.
Jacques Lusseyran, And There Was Light. Research for Volume Two. Beautiful, insightful work.
